Our hospital
Take a walk through our Woodbridge animal hospital, from the front desk and exam rooms to surgery, the lab, and x-ray, and see what happens in each area.
Front desk and waiting area
Your visit starts at the front desk, where we check you in, confirm your pet’s details, and answer questions about records or medications. Please keep dogs on a leash and cats in a carrier while you wait. It keeps every pet calmer.
Exam rooms
Most of your visit happens in an exam room. Your vet checks your pet from nose to tail, talks with you about what they find, and explains any tests or treatment they suggest. This is the place to ask questions.
Treatment area
Some care is easier with more room and an extra pair of hands, such as drawing blood, trimming nails, cleaning ears, or giving fluids. The treatment area is also where pets are cared for while they spend the day with us.
Surgery room
Surgery is done in a room kept for that purpose. Spay and neuter surgery, mass removals, and abdominal procedures take place here, with your pet under anesthesia and monitored the whole time. Learn more on our surgery page.
In-house laboratory
Our in-house lab runs bloodwork, urine tests, and other common tests on site. Many results are ready during or soon after the visit, which helps your vet make decisions sooner, especially for a sick pet or before anesthesia.
X-rays
Digital x-rays let your vet see bones, the chest, and the belly. Digital dental x-rays show tooth roots and the jaw below the gumline, where much dental disease hides.

Common questions
Can I stay with my pet during the exam?
In most cases, yes. You stay in the exam room for the exam and the talk afterward, and your vet will explain if a procedure needs to happen in the treatment area.
Can I see the hospital before my first visit?
Ask when you call (703) 680-4646. We are glad to talk you through how a visit works and what to expect.
Is lab work done at the hospital?
Many common tests are run in our in-house lab. Some specialized tests may go to an outside lab, and your vet will tell you when that is the case.
Do you take x-rays at the hospital?
Yes. We take digital x-rays on site, including digital dental x-rays.
Will my pet stay overnight after surgery?
Most routine surgery patients typically go home the same day. Your vet will give you a pickup time and home care instructions.
Why does my pet sometimes go to the back?
Tasks like drawing blood or giving fluids go more smoothly with extra hands and more space. It also keeps the exam room free for talking with you.
How should I bring my pet into the hospital?
Dogs should be on a leash and cats in a secure carrier. It keeps your pet safe and calmer around other animals.
